Secretary of State Brian Kemp launched the Peanut Poll at the Georgia National Fair in 2015. In past years, voters have chosen Georgia’s candidates for the SEC Presidential Primary and for President of the United States. Because municipal elections will be on the ballot this year, voters have the opportunity to support their favorite high school football teams in the Gridiron Showdown.
Participants are encouraged to vote daily throughout the fair from October 5th through October 15th. At 5 p.m. each day, Secretary Kemp enlists a special guest to announce the results of the day’s votes and update the overall count. Votes cast after 5 p.m. will go toward the next day’s tally. The high school with the most votes at the end of the fair will receive a prize. Georgians can keep track of the results each day through Secretary Kemp’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter feeds, and he encourages voters to follow the Peanut Poll’s blog, which emails daily updates of the results.
